Affiliations: For 6 years I served as a board member for APLD (Association of Professional Landscape Designers) heading the communications department. During those years I erected the local DC/MD/VA Chapter presiding over the first 4 years.
Continuing education: Rooftop Landscaping; Healthcare and Landscape Design which created the opportunity to design a garden for a blind client.
Volunteer Work: Having grown up with school gardens I volunteered with three disadvantaged schools in DC. Locally I served 3 years on the Tree Commission helping to preserve our great trees.
About Me
European Garden Design began as a collaboration between two friends, and has been serving the greater DC area since 1990. I grew up in Europe and received my Garden Design degree from George Washington University in D.C.
I have designed and installed numerous lovely gardens in the DC Metropolitan area, as well as in the Netherlands, Costa Rica, and Namibia. In 2014, my colleague Corinna retired and I became the sole owner and president of European Garden Design. I have continued to instill the same European flair to all the designs that EGD is known for.
History - My roots lie in the Netherlands where gardening is part of life. A garden is seen as the extra 'room' to enjoy dinner with friends and family, space kids can play, and/or as a retreat for solitude.
Education: After a nursing degree and a Cultural Anthropology degree at the University of Amsterdam, I immigrated to the USA where in 1989 I graduated in Garden Design at the George Washington University.
